A CHARLES II CASKET PANEL
Circa 1660-1675
Worked in satin stitch showing Eleazar sent to fetch Rebecca, and leading a pair of camels before two grand manor houses, with pieced band-borders similary worked, with insects, flowers and animals, framed and glazed
13 x 11 in. (33 x 28 cm.) without frame

Note du spécialiste

The central panel with its charming juxtaposition of camels and very English houses is probably from the top of an elaborate casket, and the pieced borders likely the lid-edge bands from the same.
