Specialist note

The present impressive pair of candelabra have been ordered as a special commission by Mr. Dr. R.J. de Visser as part of an extensive table service, executed between 1916 and 1918 by the well known silversmith Frans Zwollo sr.

In the 1982 catalogue on the travelling exhibition on Zwollo, the authors mention the original invoice of the service. In this invoice one can read that the most expensive part of the service - which costed a total of 13,900 NLG - where formed by the candelabra, priced at 3,000 NLG.
