Mak van Waay, Amsterdam, 10 May 1971, lot 7, where purchased by J.E. de Visser, Hoorn.

The male sitter (Amsterdam 1619-1708 Delft) was 'Ridder Generaal Majoor der Cavalerie' and 'Ritmeester Commandeur' of Deventer, according to an inscription on the reverse. His wife was born as Margaretha de Tortarolis (Leiden 1627-1681 Deventer).
