A predominantly dry year. There were very mild temperatures in March, which led to early budbreak of the vines, almost a month ahead of the usual dates for the area. It was the driest and hottest summer for over 40 years. Harvest was very early with grapes in exceptional condition and full ripeness.Excellent quality - one of the best vintages of the last few decades. Great wines for ageing
Tasting Note: This wine demonstrates the outstanding conditions of the mythical 1994 vintage. Compact and complex aroma, so dense that the scent of oak is only just discernible. Dried fruit and toasted aromas dominate the nose. Colour is chestnut, almost black, with a red rim, and some yellow tints.On the palate, the perfect smoothness is balanced by delicate tannin, and flavours of toast
