A PAIR OF ENGLISH OAK SIDE ARMCHAIRS
BY W. BAKER, EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Each with label W.BAKER, MAKER, HARINGTON PLACE, BATH (2)

Specialist note

The label is possibly that of Charles Baker (1841-1932), a skilled carpenter who specialised in copies of antique furniture. Educated at the 'penny-a-week' school on Guinea Lane, he set up a company in Bath that made 100 chairs for the Banqueting Room in Guildhall and a cabinet for Queen Victoria's doll's house.
