Curved, with rare and unusual carved ivory handle with stylized scrolls, the leather scabbard with steel chased and engraved scrolls, the curved blade with undulating edge

Aleksei Alekseevich Arseniev, Kornet (Second Lieutenant) in the Kabarda Regiment.

Specialist note

The Kabarda Regiment was part of the "Savage" division (Dikaia Divizia) created at the beginning of the First World War and composed exclusively of natives from the Caucasus such as Tchechens or Tcherkesses. Aleksei Arseniev left interesting memoirs on the above "Savage" division which were published in The military historical messager in Paris in 1958.
