Corton-Charlemagne Cuvée Francois de Salins--Vintage 1989
Hospices de Beaune. French-bottled: Joseph Drouhin
Damp-stained and damaged labels
The Cuvée Francois de Salins, produced for the Hospices de Beaune from the 0.25 hectare holding of Corton-Charlemagne is amongst the most hotly-contested "pièces" at the annual Hospices auction, held by Christie's on the third Sunday in November.
The critical factor with any Hospices burgundy is the choice of "negociant-eleveur" and it is certain that Drouhin will have ensured the production of superb Corton-Charlemagne in such an outstanding vintage.
