Specialist note

Robert Fairchild worked in Stratford from 1747 to circa 1767 and New Haven between 1767 and 1789. A chafing dish, circa 1745 to 1755, struck twice with the same mark as the strainer, is illustrated in Kathryn C. Buhler and Graham Hood, American Silver: Garvan and Other Collections in the Yale University Art Gallery, 1970, vol. 1, no. 340, illus. p. 238.
