More Information
Specialist note
These candelabra are based upon a design by Christian Heinrich Ingermann, who crafted much of the silver for the court of Augustus III of Saxony. Examples of Ingermann's candelabra have sold in these Rooms, 30 October 1991, lot 64 and 18 October 1994, lot 46.
From his post as court silversmith in Dresden, Elimeyer revived Ingermann's design in the late 19th century. This four-light candelabra model was offered Sotheby's, 4 April 2007, lot 325, and a seven-light model sold in these Rooms, 18 October 1995, lot 183. A fourteen-light candelabrum in the same style by Elimeyer is also known.
