John Haveron (fl. 1820-1860)

Locomotives such as the one in the present watercolour, were also known as portable engines, and were used by farmers for agricultural tasks such as ploughing and threshing. They were usually horse-drawn but could be self-propelled using steam at speeds of up to three or four kilometers per hour.
