Huskisson depicted with head turned slightly to sinister, wearing a classical robe, the reverse inscribed 'The Rt. Hon. W. Huskisson/R. Wards/1826', on square socle; Gladstone depicted with head turned slightly to dexter, wearing a classical robe, the reverse inscribed with a 'PS' monogram and dated 1847, on circular socle; with two pink granite pedestals

Specialist note

William Huskisson (1770-1830), was a British statesman, financier, and Member of Parliament for several constituencies, including Liverpool. He is best known today, however, as the world's first railway casualty, having been accidentally killed by George Stephenson's locomotive engine Rocket.

A classicly robed statue of William Huskisson by John Gibson, originally intended for the interior of The Customs House in Canning Place, Liverpool, is now displayed in Pimlico Gardens, London.
