Specialist note

German born Karl Yens recived his artistic training in Paris before settling in California circa 1890. He was active with the California Art Club and Laguna Beach Art Association throughout his career, exhibiting alongside contemporaries Edgar Payne, Paul Lauritz, Hanson Puthuff, and William Wendt.
