Note du spécialiste

Ritts fixated on Vladimir during his performance at Cirque du Soleil. Afterward Ritts approached him to make a photograph and so developed this compelling portrait of an Ukranian ex-coal miner.
"He has this whole creative side to him and is totally uninhibited, one of those great Russian performers...The session with him was something I had arranged. It wasn't about a magazine. It was thrilling. He has such a heart and such a presence." (Ritts, Notorious, Bulfinch, n.p.)
