Showa period (mid-20th century), signed on base Yoshio [Nakajima Yoshio, known as Yasumi II (1906-1988)]
With six faceted sides and tapered midsection, finished with a reddish-brown patina
8½in. (21.7cm.) high

Specialist note

Three generations of the Yasumi family were metal artists working in Osaka. All three worked in richly colored purple-red bronze (seido). Ysumi II exhibited widely, beginning with the Shin-Bunten and Hoshukuten exhibitions before World War II and the Nitten exhibitions afterward.
