Specialist note

The table, supported by sphynx monopodiae, displays festive golden bas-relief tablets in the Virgilian fashion celebrating Peace and Plenty with the triumph of agriculture as personified by the Summer deity Ceres. The deity is seated in a lion-drawn chariot bearing a torch to assist in the melting of weapons to create ploughs; while the harvest deity's cornupopia or horn-of-plenty is displayed in the companion ram-drawn chariot.
