Specialist note

A camillus in Roman society acted as an acolyte in many religious rituals. Usually children, they served as altar boys and attendants to the priests and priestesses of Ancient Rome's many gods.
This copper statue is based on the 'Zingara', a bronze statue of a camillus from the 1st Century AD, in the Capitoline Museum in Rome.
