Specialist note

La Turbíe, on the highest point of the Via Aurelia, lies in the hills behind Monaco and Monte Carlo. Lear noted in his diary that he 'drew at intervals all the way to Turbia'. This drawing was executed on the same day as one of Eze, lot 68.
