Specialist note

This design was originally created for the artist's mantelpiece and was first exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1914. It was cast in an edition of fifteen. One of the editions is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
