Simeon Solomon (1840-1905)

The present watercolour relates to other compositions of a red-headed figure, sometimes male, sometimes female as in the present drawing and often sexually ambiguous. Study of a woman was sold in these Rooms, 20 November 2003, lot 141 and Head of a youth 16 November 2006, lot 208 are comparable works.
