Specialist note
According to the Archives of Montres Omega, the present watch was sold on 18 March 1950.
The "Synchrobeat" model was developed in 1951, the movement of the prototype based on calibre 30 T2 SC, equipped with a double third wheel and a flirt controlling the independent seconds as well as an additional small constant seconds dial which was probably added to check the precision of the independent centre seconds. The stainless steel prototype, described and illustrated in Omega - A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, p. 193, pl. 85, led to the creation of calibre 372 SCS (ref. CK 2367) in the following year.
The present watch is an interesting variety of the "Synchrobeat", made already in 1950, the year before the prototype, and fitted with a "standard" calibre 283 movement. It possibly served as a model as it features a comparable design.
It furthermore stands out by its large size, the attractive two-tone silvered dial, perfectly synchronized centre and constant seconds and very good overall condition.
