PRINCESS MARY'S RUSSIAN BELLPUSH A RUSSIAN HARDSTONE BELLPUSH IN THE FORM OF AN OWL'S HEAD
CYRILLIC MARK, 1896/1908
The carved bowenite face of the owl mounted to a shallow oval silver-gilt platform the border with purple guilloche enamel, both circular cabochon sapphire eyes providing the push-buttons, each guilloche enamelled in red/pink, hole to platform for wire, the metal base plate held in position by three screws (one lacking), traces of silver to same, 2¾ in. (7cm.) across base, approximately 1½ in. (4cm.) high overall.

Acquired from the estate of H.R.H. Princess Mary, The Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood (1897-1965) in 1966 by the Hon. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Lascelles.
