Specialist note

This and the following lot are rare large examples of the style typical of the later work of this artist. Both are well-known and have last been displayed in an exhibition at Saddam Centre of Arts in 1988 before becoming part of a private collection in London.

This work has been authenticated by Iraqi art critic Mohamed al Jaza'iri.
