Lot 2 I got into the Democratic Convention by stealing a badge from a jacket hanging in the men's room. I liked Adlai Stevenson that year -- but I was much more impressed by the spectacle than by who they would nominate. - Robert Frank

Specialist note
Robert Kennedy, here with political heavy-weight, Mayor Richard Daley, aggressively campaigned at the Democratic National Convention to win his brother John the vice-presidential candidate nomination. Estes Kefauver won that battle but, together with running-mate Adlai Stevenson, ultimately lost the election to Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon.
