The arched moulded pediment centred by scrolled foliage and a later shell motif, flanked by foliate carved and gilded finials, the arch-shaped mirrored door enclosing two shelves, the concave corners applied with carved shell, rockwork and S scroll motif, the bombé lower section fitted with a secretaire drawer above three graduated drawers, the shaped apron on scroll feet, inscribed to the reverse Campbell, restorations

Specialist note

Furniture of this type has often been attributed to Denmark or Schelswig-Holstein/Altona, as the later was Danish territory in the second quarter of the 18th century. This region was later ceded to Prussia in the mid-19th century. A related bureau cabinet is illustrated in H. Kreisel and G.
