AN EXCEPTIONAL COLOURED DIAMOND SINGLE-STONE RING
The circular-cut fancy greyish-blue diamond weighing 7.81 carats to the diamond-set openwork gallery, shoulders and plain hoop, circa 1920
Accompanied by report No. 15310590 dated 9 November 2006 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond is fancy grayish blue colour, VS2 clarity

Note du spécialiste

"Blue diamonds rarely have the depth of colour of a sapphire, and some show a hint of gray. As nitrogen is much more common and abundant than boron in diamonds, natural blue diamonds are quite rare"
George E. Harlow, The Nature of Diamonds, Cambridge University Press, 1998, p. 41
