A few woodcut illustrations and diagrams, with the final blank, quire ZZ duplicated. (A few quires in the middle spotted.) Contemporary vellum (lacks ties). Provenance: Nicolas Bergier, advocat at Reims (early 17th-century signature) -- deleted ownership inscription of a Jesuit college, dated 1660, on title. FIRST EDITION of Scaliger's treatise on natural science which included an important critique of Cardano's De Subtilitate (1550). Adams S579.
