Of oval section and designed in black lacquer and yamimaki-e with a continuous pattern of waves and inlaid with various shells in gold and shakudo; the interiors lacquered nashiji with fundame edges; fitted with a pearl bead ojime and a black-lacquer netsuke of a cluster of clam shells, the ends inlaid in ivory; with signature Tomonobu and with kakihan (cursive monogram)
