Christie's is pleased to offer the following fifteen lots of Sam Francis prints to benefit the Sam Francis Foundation, which was officially launched this year. The foundation will be a grants giving organization dedicated to charitable purposes within the arts. The following lots reflect the wide ranging printmaking techniques in the artist's oeuvre; lithography, etching/aquatint, screenprint and woodcut/monotype. The foundation is also offering lot 382, Robert Therrien's No Title portfolio.

When working on his prints, Francis said, "I am the paper, I am the paint, I am the machine..." A consummate example of the artist's unity with the process of creating his art, this lithograph is one of the finest examples of Francis' achievement in the medium.
