Specialist note

The present cast is number fifty-seven of approximately ninety-one authorized castings of The Cheyenne that were produced by Roman Bronze Works. According to Michael Greenbaum, the total number of castings made during the artist's lifetime probably totaled only twenty-one, making the present lot a posthumous cast produced under the authority of the artist's widow.
