A superbly lit, high-contrast portrait of the youthful composer, in profile, seated at the console of a grand piano, both hands on the keyboard, in an elegant interior. An excellent image.
Another image perhaps taken at the same sitting, although with a much darker background, was part of the Marans Collection (sale, Christie's, 17 April 1996, lot 231 ($8,625)).
