Frans Floris (Antwerp 1516-1570)

These figures derive from Floris' large altarpiece for the Church of Saint James, Antwerp (see M.J. Friedlander, Early Netherlandish Paintings: Antonis Mor and His Contemporaries, XIII, 1975, pl. 71, no. 132). According to van de Velde (op. cit., no. 109), that altarpiece is a copy of the lost original.
