Henry Percy, the 8th Earl of Northumberland, was found dead on 21 June 1585 during the Revolt of the Northern Earls. The verdict was suicide and the English government was charged with Northumberland's murder. An inquiry was ordered and held on 23 June: this work is the report of the proceedings which upheld the verdict of suicide. STC 19617
