Of bombé form, the serpentine brèche du Benou verte marble top above two drawers inlaid sans traverses with scrolling foliage, exotic birds and monkeys, the sides similarly decorated with climbing squirrels, the angles headed with trailing foliage, on splayed legs with scrolled sabots, the lock plate stamped CT LINKE SERRURERIE PARIS 545, the original key stamped 545

專家說明

In 1938 Linke furnished four commodes of this model, titled 'commode singe et écureuil' in the régistre. The whimsical marquetry design, executed with myriad of exotic wood veneers, was faithfully reproduced in each instance by an Imauville marqueteur at a cost of 2,000 francs (C. Payne, François Linke: The Belle Epoque of French Furniture, Woodbridge, 2003 p. 382).
