Sir Alfred James Munnings, P.R.A., R.W.S. (1878-1959)

The large shell of Covehithe Church dates back to the 15th Century however a smaller, thatched church, apparent in this picture was built within the existing walls of the old ruins and is still used today. The village is probably most famous today for it's precarious position on cliff tops eroding into the sea. The coastline in the area has receeded over 500 metres since the 1830s and it is likely that much of the village will be lost in the coming decades.
