19th Century Sculpture

Christie’s 19th Century Sculpture department specialises in European sculpture from the period following Antonio Canova to the early 20th century. Within this broad scope the department has particular success with the leading names of the French Salon school such as Antoine-Louis Barye, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and Aimé-Jules Dalou, Italian marbles and bronzes from the Roman and Florentine studios exemplified by the work of Vittorio Caradossi and Cesare Lapini, as well as encompassing the diverse British schools, including New Sculpture movement of Frederic Leighton, Alfred Gilbert, and their contemporaries.
