Tasting Note: "At recent dinners in Beijing and Shanghai, the 2001 Lafite was still a bit closed early on, but with time it opened very nicely to reveal a fine, curranty fruit character, marked still at this time by the maturation in cask, but already showing some pleasantly spicy, earthy nuance. On the palate the wine was dense and compact but showed a silky, fine texture and the impressive length that indicate that this is a fantastic wine, and one that is pleasant now but will continue to improve for decades to come.
