In German style, the lobed body chased with foliage and stippled decoration, the finial formed as a bee resting on a mushroom, underside engraved with inscription dated 1810, gilt interior, marked to underside and flange of cover

Specialist note

The engraved inscription reads: W.R. Mitchell a Present from My Uncle and God-Parent Mr. Wm. Standton, April 10th, 1810.

William Robert Mitchell (d. 1807), was son of Peter Mitchell and his wife Sarah Elizabeth (neé Stanton).
