Note du spécialiste

This console table is part of the tradition of Dutch carved and painted tables, referred to as "Kwabtafels". Kwab refers to the Auricular style of ornament adopted by Dutch silversmiths in the beginning of the 17th century, which was later adopted into furniture design.
