Specialist note

The present watch is not a simple Royal Oak ref. 4332ST, it was made in 1985 as part of a special batch to be offered to the Whitbread Round the World UBS Switzerland racing crew lead by skipper Pierre Fehlmann. The Whitbread Round the World Race is a sailing competition held every three years. After 117 days and 4 hours of heroic fighting against elements, the UBS Switzerland team arrived 1st on elapsed time and fetch the 4th rank in corrected time. Each crew member received an example of the Royal Oak engraved TOUR DU MONDE 85-86 to the back. This watch is a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic sports watch enhanced and personalized by its historic nautical competition contest.

The 1985–86 Whitbread Round the World Race was the fourth edition of the around-the-world sailing event Whitbread Round the World Race. On 28 September 1985, 15 boats started out from Southampton for the Whitbread Round the World Race.
