Cartier. A very fine rare and elegant tonneau shaped platinum and gold lady’s diamond and black onyx-set wristwatch with pearl and diamond bracelet

A superb example of Cartier Art Deco haute joaillerie from the 1920's, this extremely elegant and very beautiful watch epitomizes the glamour of the jazz age. Furthermore, it is preserved in excellent condition. The platinum and gold case is fully numbered by Cartier and set with rose-cut diamonds and geometric panels of black onyx. The movement is by the European Watch & Clock Co. Inc., who, in the early 1920s with Edward Jaeger (of Jaeger-LeCoultre) formed a joint company with Cartier to make movements specifically for Cartier watches and clocks, the company was named the European Watch & Clock Company Inc. and has become the most associated with vintage Cartier watches. Collectors particularly esteem a Cartier watch with the now familiar signature on the movement 'European Watch & Clock Co. Inc.'.
The watch is attached to an exquisite and glamorous four-strand pearl bracelet intersected by platinum and rose-cut diamond links, a sparkling platinum and rose-cut diamond set clasp completes the ensemble.
