A pioneer in the use of new materials, Audemars Piguet is one of the few watchmaking companies to craft their pieces in forged carbon and turn their watches into iconic timepieces; such was the case with the Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi. Its success led to further carbon fibre models, such as the Grand Prix Limited Edition, presented at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in 2010. The present Grand Prix model, cased in the new 44 mm. Royal Oak Offshore series, features elements that are directly inspired from earlier F1 models by Audemars Piguet such as the Juan Pablo Montoya Limited Edition and Rubens Barichello Limited Edition.
