Each oviform vase flanked by ormolu rams head handles, finely painted with birds flying before large blooming rosebushes in landscapes, the reverse with a ribbon-tied bouquet, within chased oval surrounds and swags of bulrushes and berried laurel, on a conforming socle, ormolu base and porphyry plinth

Specialist note

The attribution of the painting to Jean-Jacques Pierre le jeune, recorded as a flower painter and later gilder 1763-1800, is based on a comparison between the painting on the present vases and that on the previous lot, a lozenge-shape déjeuner tray dated 1776.
