Each painted in puce with a central floral medallion incorporating the royal cipher of interlaced L's four times, the shaped rim with gilt C-scroll cartouches and ribbon-tied garlands

Louis XV, acquired though Lazare Duvaux and delivered to the Chateau de Fontainebleau, 1758 and augmented with supplements until 1788.

Specialist note

This service was first supplied in 1757 to Louis XV by the marchand-mercier Lazare-Duvaux for use at the Château de Fontainebleau. It is known to have been widely used and was augmented with a number of supplements until 1788 during the King's yearly visits. A large part of the service was sold at Christie's, Monaco on 7 December 1987, lot 253. The present plate, dated to 1770, is likely part of one of the aforementioned supplements.
