lithograph printed in bistre, 1897, on laid paper, from the edition of fifty printed in this colour (there were also one hundred in black), published by A. Vollard, Paris, the full sheet, with deckle edges, scattered foxing mainly in the margins, a crease at the lower right sheet corner

Specialist note

Berthe Morisot's daughter Julie Manet and her cousin Paulette Gobillard were the models for this subject, to which Renoir frequently returned in etchings, lithographs, pastel drawings and one painting (see also lot 58).
