Specialist note

Barker describes the impetus behind creating the hand grenade, 'I always thought implements of war were beautiful but the destruction they caused was terrible. An enormous amount of love is lavished on their design, the same care and attention that is put into a Formula One car.' (Clive Barker, private correspondence, 12th October 2005).
