With nickel-finished lever movement, 41 jewels, bi-metallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, adjusted to all positions and temperatures, minute repeating on two gongs activated by a slide in the band, gold monogrammed cuvette, champagne matte dial with Breguet numerals, two subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds and 30 minute register, blued steel hands, polished case with a button in the band to activate the split seconds, the chronograph activated by a button in the bow, chronograph locking mechanism in the band, case, cuvette and movement signed and numbered
46mm diam.

Specialist note

Jules Jürgensen (1808-1877) was born in to a family of eminent Danish watch makers. His grandfather, Jorgen (1748-1811) established a watch making firm in 1740 in Denmark with his partner Isaac Larpent. Jules was born in Le Locle Switzerland while his father, Urban (1776-1830) studied the fine craftsmanship of Swiss watch making. The family later returned to Denmark but in 1835 Jules Jürgensen returned to Le Locle and opened a watch firm under his own name. He was known to produce high quality and technically complicated watch movements like the present pocket watch.

Jules Jürgensen is known as a student of mathematic and physics, which he must have used for the technical advances he contributed to the field of horology, like his patented bow-setting system.
